I'm don't want to jump on any bandwagon of negativity. I don't want to say "I told you so". But I have had this nagging feeling about esports. I work in the TV industry and we regularly hear about astronomic viewing figures for some esports tournaments - "More than the superbowl". We also see multimillion dollar prize funds. And yet, I don't know anyone from any generation that flocks to these things, I don't see dents in viewership on evenings where tournaments run.
I live in a bubble. We all do. But it was gratifying to see others share my concerns.
I'm sure esports will rule the world one day. But I don't think that day is nigh.
